National Museums and Fortresses in Oslo

On our second day in Oslo, we decided as a group to hit the National Museum to study some new and old artforms in nearly every subcategory. When I say this museum was big, I mean it was HUGE. There were so many rooms within rooms that I could barely tell which way to go to get back to the main lobby later in the day. You name it, they had it. Architecture, paintings, sculptures, textiles, pottery, weaponry, they had it all along with authentic pieces from various countries dating all the way back to ancient Greece. It was a joy to explore and a wonderful opportunity to learn about other cultures.

The Akershus Festning (Akershus Fortress) was next on our list and was an interesting journey back in time to understand the innerworkings of medieval castle. The castle was built around 1300 with its primary function being to defend Oslo. With a court chamber, school chamber, royal mausoleum, church, and a plethora of halls and chambers designated for the royal family, this castle was large and full of history to unearth.

I didn't count any of my steps but I'm sure I walked a lot,
