Millans Tattoo

I went with another student on the trip to get a tattoo and the artist had a chihuahua named Selma! She was so small; holding her was like carrying a couple grapes. The tattoo I got was an old reference I sketched of a character I designed a few years back. They're actually a character in the comic I'm illustrating for my senior show, so you may see more of them later in sneak peeks!
Our artist's studio Millans Tattoo in Mullsjo was amazing. The walls were covered in her own paintings and a good amount of her furniture was based in an art nouveau style.


Here's a photo of the sketch vs. the tattoo! I had her draw just the character as close to the original design as possible to give that sketchy quality to the linework, with some shading and no color.

Group Shenanigans #2

More photos of the group and I during our free time! Later in the day we stumbled across a German street festival, so of course we had to check it out. We were able to catch the tail end of a concert by a German band called Liebe Leudde where they were performing covers of popular American songs like Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond and Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. Not sure exactly what vibe they were going for but they had us absolutely gob-smacked. We were able to get really close to the front of the crowd, too! Kunsthalle

Miraculous artwork awaited us at the Hamburg Kuntshalle this morning when we ventured in! Both sculpture work and paintings alike were purposefully placed within the halls and along the walls for us to peruse at our leisure. One of the first paintings we walked into was The Entrance of Emperor Charles V in Antwerp by Hans Makart which dwarfed all of us at 520cm in height and 952 centimeters in length; a downright  massive piece! It felt amazing to be in the presence of so many historic artworks by famous painters like Edward Munch, Francois Lemoyne, and Caspar David Friedrich. While they didn't have my favorite Friedrich painting on display, Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog , many more of his paintings were present and I thoroughly enjoyed taking the time to appreciate each one of them.
