Franklin's Birthday

Franklin's birthday was on Saturday, but we knew we wouldn't have time to celebrate because we would be traveling all day. So, the squad and I decided to throw him a surprise party Sunday night instead!
TJ brought him to Jonkoping for a con called Dreamhack in the morning while the rest of us stayed back to get the party ready. They had a huge section just for Legos at the con, and both of the boys had a blast. Megan even baked him a strawberry chocolate cake from scratch! We didn't have a cake stand so we wrapped a pizza box in tinfoil 😅
And Ed made burgers for all of us, too!




We all got him little mementos for his birthday. Nat got him a dubious little creature statue, I bought him some old swedish spiderman comics from a thrift store, and we all pitched in to get a ton of snacks.
Since I knew he was a huge spiderman fan, I drew spidersonas for the whole group and TJ and I both drew digital illustrations for him based on the spidersonas. The last ilustration is TJ's!




We ended the night by watching Into the Spiderverse with bonus content and then getting a good night's rest to get ready for our upcoming travels.

In the Darkroom

We've been working in the darkroom for a few weeks now and have all grown accustomed to the process of developing photographs. Below are some photos I took with the red lighting in the darkroom. One fun fact about darkroom photography! Red light is the only light we can use to see in the developing process because it doesn't overexpose or ruin the light sensitive paper we develop our photos on. Without it, we'd be forced to work completely in the dark, which is how we have to prepare our rolls of film before developing. Also, it takes a minimum of fifteen minutes to develop a single sheet if you're not developing two or three simultaneously. Developing more than one sheet at a time can be tricky since the chemicals we use are extremely time-sensitive, and the paper is very expensive, so mistakes are costly. With only four prints on average per hour, it's hard to not have a deep respect for those who develop their photo...
